Jesus Take the Wheel

Jesus Take the wheel.

A friend of mine told me long time ago about the song Jesus Take the Wheel by Carrie Underwood, I have to date never listened to this song, however the title of the song keeps popping into my mind the whole day. So while I type I am busy downloading the song so that I can listen to it.  It is strange really how a song that I have never heard is constantly on my mind today, but I know that it is God speaking to me and this time I am not going to doubt that this is from him. Right now as I sit here and type this I know God is telling me to let him take over the driver’s seat, and I am ashamed to say this but it is something that I have realised, while I say I have surrendered my life to the Lord there are still certain aspects to it that I have not relinquished the control to God.

While this whole time I have thought that I have completely surrendered my life to God, I have come to realise that I have in fact not done so. This thought brings tears to my eyes. That I still despite my efforts not completely trusted the one who created me and the one that knows best.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Honestly it’s not easy when your all you have done is put your trust people and then being let down, so now having to put your trust in something that you cannot see is easier said than done. While I know that God exists he has proved that to me OVER and OVER in the past months in fact in the past week he has confirmed that so many times, sometimes his presence was so obvious that I got shivers down my spine. Why then is it so hard to surrender ALL my life to him. Why it is SO to give up the control when giving up that control is what is best for my life.

So this is no ordinary post today, this is me admitting my weakness and asking for your prayers. I want God to have FULL control not partial control. ONLY then will my life be what it is meant to be.

“Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.” Psalm 2:12

So Jesus please take this wheel from me that I’m holding onto so tightly, give me the Strength to LET IT GO!!!!

Here is the chorus to the song, which I still have not listened to. But the lyrics alone are powerful.

Jesus take the wheel

Take it from my hands

Cause I can’t do this on my own

I’m letting go

So give me one more chance

Save me from this road I’m on

“I will love You, O Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;

My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;

My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;

So shall I be saved from my enemies?” Psalm 18:1-3

Jesus Take the Wheel – Carrie Underwood.

She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati

On a snow white Christmas Eve

Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy with the baby in the backseat

Fifty miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline

It’d been a long hard year

She had a lot on her mind and she didn’t pay attention

she was going way too fast

Before she knew it she was spinning on a thin black sheet of glass

She saw both their lives flash before her eyes

She didn’t even have time to cry

She was sooo scared

She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus take the wheel

Take it from my hands

Cause I can’t do this on my own

I’m letting go

So give me one more chance

Save me from this road I’m on

Jesus take the wheel

It was still getting colder when she made it to the shoulder

And the car came to a stop

She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat sleeping like a rock

And for the first time in a long time

She bowed her head to pray

She said I’m sorry for the way

I’ve been living my life

I know I’ve got to change

So from now on tonight

Jesus take the wheel

Take it from my hands

Cause I can’t do this on my own

I’m letting go

So give me one more chance

Save me from this road I’m on

Ooh, Jesus take the wheel

Ooh, I’m letting go

So give me one more chance

Save me from this road I’m on

From this road I’m on

Jesus take the wheel

Ooh, take it, take it from me

Ooh ooh wah ah ooh ooh ooh

God’s Beauty – God’s Magnificence

God’s Beauty

We all say how awesome is our God, how amazing he is, etc. What about how beautiful he is? God’s Beauty is all around us just take notice of it. It’s when you pay attention that you begin to fully comprehend how beautiful our God is.  The beauty of his creation leaves me awestruck.

Psalm 90:17 – “Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us!”

Just take a look at the image below, how can you not see the beauty in it, with the rays of the sun seeping through the bushes, almost as if the Almighty himself is about to make His presence visible.

What about this one

The different shades of pink, the tiny details going into the making of this precious flower, this BEAUTIFUL flower…

Then this one,

A butterfly is an insect… an insect … and yet its beauty is magnificent. The vivid colours, the delicate wings, wings that are strong enough to fly….

What about this one…

Amazing isn’t it…

Still not convinced??? What about this one

Have you ever seen an animal so beautiful, one that “looks” so powerful that it commands your attention, its eyes that seem to pierce your innermost being like as if it knows your every thought.

Who would have thought rocks could be so awe-inspiring?

An expanse of just rock and yet so magnificent.

Lastly

Look at these colours, the different types, different sizes, different fragrances…. how could anyone other than God have made that.

Look at you, you are unique, you are beautiful…. God Bless.

I AM READY

I am ready

Over the past few weeks I have been contemplating being baptised, but have wanted to do it for the right reasons, I have done much research on the topic and spoken to friends about it as well. It never really dawned on me whether or not I was in fact ready to be baptised.

A friend told me a few days ago that he knows I am ready to be baptised, and yet even then did it not sink in whether or not I was ready, I had been sitting on Christmas evening in front of my laptop reading others blogs etc, and suddenly I realised that I AM READY, I have been ready for quite some time, but I am not just ready to be baptised I am ready to do whatever it is that God wants me to do, or to go wherever he wants me to go. Only he could have put this knowledge in my heart for me to know that I am ready.

Psalms 40:8 – I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”

Not only am I ready but I am excited about it, as the scripture above says “I delight to do your will”, now not many Christians have an easy walk with the Lord, in fact I don’t think there is ANY Christian that can truly say being a Christian is EASY, what we can all say though is that it is worth it and rewarding to walk with God.

Some people die for Jesus, some people give up high paying and lucrative Jobs to follow Jesus, I know of 2 people that have done that. Some people lose all their friends and family friends to follow Jesus, some even have to pack up and go into dangerous territories for Him, now I do not know which category I fall into but I am ready for whatever it is. I AM READY.

I have no idea what the next step is, or even the one after that or the next ten after that, but God will reveal all this to me in His time.

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

 – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

This is one of my favourite quotes it explains faith so simply, you don’t have to see the whole staircase just take the first step. I am ready and willing to take the first step.

Matthew 10:38-42 – “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. “He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.”And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

Are you ready to take up the Cross of Jesus? Are you ready to deny yourself and do HIS will? I know I am.

1 Corinthians 15:57-58 – But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

It’s clear that God prepared our work beforehand, he just have to be ready to start.

Psalm 108:1-6 (The Message) – I’m ready, God, so ready, ready from head to toe. Ready to sing, ready to raise a God-song: “Wake, soul! Wake, lute! Wake up, you sleepyhead sun!”  I’m thanking you, God, out in the streets, singing your praises in town and country. The deeper your love, the higher it goes; every cloud’s a flag to your faithfulness. Soar high in the skies, O God! Cover the whole earth with your glory! And for the sake of the one you love so much, reach down and help me – answer me!

I am READY for God to use me for HIS Glory in a Mighty way.

So I am putting on the armour of God

  • The belt of Truth
  • The breastplate of Righteousness
  • The shoes of the Gospel of Peace
  • The shield of Faith
  • The Helmet of Salvation
  • The sword of the Spirit

Along with this feeling of readiness, I have this stron desire to Fast, mmm also do not have much information on this topic time for more research.

Christmas Day Bombings

The last thing I want is for my Blog to become one of doom and gloom, especially at this time of year, however ever since reading the article on Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani and the fact that he has not only been imprisioned but ALSO sentenced to death as a result of his faith, has made me was to SCREAM, when will all this voilence end, the attacks on innocent people, people who have done nothing wrong, other than believe in God WHICH IS NOT WRONG.

You know what I find quite strange is that you don’t find many stories on the news much like this one where the tables are turned, where the Christians did the killing of the Muslims and whatever other religion or belief that think it is OK to kill people because their beliefs are different to those of yours. WHY is that?? Because the Bible tells us “Thou Shall NOT KILL” Exodus 20:13.

Should we not ALL as HUMAN BEINGS, strive towards peace, and getting along with one another regardless of our belief system. If you are reading this and you are one of those people that believe you need to kill those that do not CONFORM to your belief system, WHAT JUSTIFIES THAT, WHAT JUSTFIES THE KILLING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE. Because they do not believe what you believe.

How many children have now become orphans because of some sensless killing. How many people who could have become soething more than just their circumstance have now been killed.

Now I assume that I will take some heat for this blog post, to be very honest I DO NOT CARE, I am proud to say I am a Christian, I am proud to say I love Jesus. WHY?? Because even though we too do not believe what you believe we do not go around Killing people because of it. We live our lives according to God’s word.

Now I am not saying that ALL religions or people that are of a certain religion, I am merely stating the fact there are those people out there that are infact part of certain religions that believe in killing people because they believe in something other than your beliefs.

Ask yourself this, if the tables were turned and it was the Christians going around Bombing your place of worship because they do not like the fact that you believe not what they believe, how would you react? How would you react of your son/daughter/mother/father/brother/sister were one of those people who had died in the bombing? How would you react?

So as much as I cannot physically do anything about the Bombing I pray that I can be a voice for those people who have lost their lives for Jesus, and I am doing it through this Blog.

Tim Tebow used his Platform for Jesus.

Living in South Africa, we have our own sports, the different sports star; I have only recently come to hear about Tim Tebow.  So what makes him so special that I am writing about him? I am sure most of you already know the answer to that, Tim Tebow is a Christian, so there are lots of Christians that I could write about, why HIM??? Because he is a famous sports star, so let me give you some history courtesy of Google and Wikipedia and various other news sites etc.

Timothy Richard “Tim” Tebow, born August 14, 1987) is an American football player who is currently the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Broncos as the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and played college football at Florida.

Tebow was selected in the 1st round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. He started the last three games of his rookie season and became the Broncos’ full-time starting QB beginning in the 6th game of 2011. His team was 1-4 before Tebow began playing regularly, but immediately began winning with him on the field, often by coming from behind late in the 4th quarter.

Tebow was born in Makati City in the Philippines, to American parents who were serving as Christian Baptist missionaries at the time. His mother, Pamela Elaine (née Pemberton), is the daughter of a U.S. Army colonel, and his father, Robert Ramsey Tebow II, is a pastor. While pregnant, his mother suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba. Because of the drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the foetus experienced a severe placental abruption. Doctors had expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life, although abortions are illegal in the Philippines, but she remained undaunted and refused having an abortion.

Wow, what an amazing story not so? I mean think about it, the doctors told his mother to abort him, she refused, and she had faith that both of them would survive and look at him today, a famous football player. Still what makes him so special? It is simple.

HIS FAITH IN JESUS

Tim Tebow used the amazing platform he had been given to tell people about the Lord, and to be a role model to other young and IMPRESSIONABLE sports enthusiasts.  WHAT better way to use the platform other than to serve the Almighty Jesus.  That is AMAZING, he uses his platform to Praise the Lord. Just imagine how many people he can reach and has already reached just by proclaiming his Faith to the world.

Now did you know there is this thing called the Tebow Rule:

In 2010, a new rule for the next NCAA football season, dubbed “The Tebow Rule” by media because it would have affected him, banned messages on eye paint. During his college football career, Tebow frequently wore references to biblical verses on his eye black. In the 2009 BCS Championship Game, he wore John 3:16 on his eye paint, and as a result, 92 million people searched “John 3:16” on Google during or shortly after the game. Additionally, later, when Tebow switched to another verse, there were 3.43 million searches of “Tim Tebow” and “Proverbs 3:5-6” together. Tebow stated of the searches: “It just goes to show you the influence and the platform that you have as a student-athlete and as a quarterback at Florida”.

The NFL already has a rule like this in prohibiting players from wearing messages on eye black; so, Tebow would not be able to continue the practice in the NFL. Despite the media labelling it as the Tebow rule, the NCAA denies the rule was influenced by Tebow particularly, since many other notable players (Reggie Bush and Terrelle Pryor for example) wear or have worn messages on eye black. An NCAA spokesman said “When this rule was proposed the committee did not focus on any one team or student athlete. That measure reinforces what the intended use of eye black is which is to shade the eyes from the sun.”

Ok SERIOUSLY add up 92 MILLION and 3.43 MILLION searches on Google = 95.43 MILLION people searched those scriptures. Do you get that not… let me repeat: 95.43 MILLION PEOPLE, NOW THAT is a HUGE PLATFORM FOR JESUS.

I commend Tim Tebow for his dedication to the Lord, and can only hope and pray that the Lord will use me in this way too or whichever way HE sees fit for my life.

Tim Tebow and the surging Denver Broncos are the biggest story in the NFL this season, as his leadership style, fourth quarter heroics and unabashed religiosity feed a national media frenzy. As Fred Bowen reported.

May we all look to Tim Tebow and strive to do the same for JESUS.

Let’s remember Jesus this Christmas

What is the real reason for Christmas –  The celebration of Christ Jesus ( The best Gift EVER)

Matthew 1:18-25 (The Message) – 18-19: The birth of Jesus took place like this, his mother Mary was engaged to be married to Joseph. Before they came to the marriage bed Joseph discovered she was pregnant. (It was by the Holy Spirit but he did not know that). Joseph chagrined but noble, determined to take care of things quietly so that Mary would not be disgraced.

20-23: While he was trying to figure a way out he had a dream. God’s Angel spoke in the dream: “Joseph son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s pregnancy is spirit-conceived. God’s Holy Spirit has made her pregnant. She will Bring a son to birth, and when she does you Joseph, will name him Jesus – ‘God Saves’ – because he will save his people from their sins.” This would bring the embryonic sermon to full term.

Watch for this a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son:

They will call him Immanuel (Hebrew for “God is with us”)

24-25 Then Joseph woke up, he did exactly what God’s angel commanded in the dream, he married Mary, but he did not consummate the marriage until she had the baby. He named the baby Jesus.

The birth of this baby was not just any ordinary birth. It was the birth of Jesus, our saviour. Many people have forgotten him in this timeless tradition, lately it seems to be more about family gatherings, astonishing amounts of food, presents and the like. And YES I do this every year; I get excited like a child at Christmas time because it is such a wonderful day of the year.

This year is different for me though, while I am still excited and have been to do all my Christmas shopping and can’t wait to see the faces of my nieces and nephews when they open their presents that we got them.

A lot of people seem to have forgotten that Christmas is a celebration, of the birth of Jesus Christ, the best Christmas present ever given to us by God.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he GAVE his only son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.

THIS is what Christmas is all about, Jesus, and the fact that he was born so that one day he would be put to death in return for our sins, so that we may have that everlasting life.

So while we all get caught up in the festivities let’s not forget the Guest of Honour Jesus Christ. Make sure he is a part of your Christmas this year, for those of you with Children, lets tell them about the real reason for Christmas so that they can remember and one day in turn tell their children.

My mother always used to tell me “You bend a tree when its young” meaning if you want your child to grow up in a certain way, having manners, obedience, generosity etc. You need to teach them these values from a young age that seed needs to be planted into their lives at an early age. So if you want your children to know the real meaning and value of Christmas, teach them now while they are still young.

So let’s celebrate the gift we received. But don’t just leave the celebrations for Christmas day Jesus should be celebrated on a DAILY basis.

God Bless all and Lets remember History (HIStory) – Jesus’ story.
