Blazing in battle


We might go into battle blind but God will be our eyes

Up until a few hours ago, I had no clue what I would write about today, but God has a way of revealing to you exactly what is needed and when, I have decided that every thought that makes me feel at peace and good is from God, so I will obey him and write this post.

Today I will write about Christians dealing with conflict and my friend and colleague, for the sake of anonymity I will call him Frikkie (A little humour for you my friendJ)  

I have mentioned Frikkie in a few blog posts; he was one of the people that have been instrumental in me giving my life back to the Lord.

Before I go any further I would like to provide you with some scriptures so that you can have a better understanding of this post.

Matthew 18:15 – “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.

 

Colossians 3:13 – Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

 

My friend is dealing with conflict in the work place, he is victimised by one person and unfortunately this person is in a higher management position, had I been in his shoes, I do not think that I would have been as calm and collected as he is. I take my hat off to him and I would often wonder how he actually manages to stay so calm. You see Frikkie is a born again Christian and he has Jesus on his side.

I look at him and have the utmost respect for him, as he is a true example of what it really is to be a Christian and to be more Christ like in his everyday life.

I felt the need to pray for him last night, and at that time I was not sure what for, I thought perhaps it was for his safety but it wasn’t.  I sat here and thought to myself, about the way he is being treated, if you knew him as a person you would agree with me that how he has been treated is WRONG. Plain and simple, he goes out of his way to help others, he never has a bad word to say about anyone, he does not swear, does not speak to people disrespectfully even though this is how he is treated on a daily basis. He has respect for anyone and everyone that crosses his path, and makes people feel good. Everyone in our office considers him to be one of the friendliest people around, and yet there is that one person that does everything to make his life a living hell, now that is where a light suddenly came on in my head, or should I rather say at that time God revealed something to me.

He reminded me of something I said on one of my previous posts, that being  a Christian is NOT easy, in fact it is a very tough road to travel, because once you surrender to Jesus, satan will do EVERYTHING he can to make you stumble and fall, in your walk with Jesus.  So in this case where my friend is concerned Satan is using this one person to attack him, so it’s not the actual person, the driving force here is satan, once we are able to realise that the battle if halfway won, because then we can call in the BIG SHOT, the one who is more powerful than satan can EVER dream of being, we need to let God take the wheel in our fight with satan, once we allow him to direct our next step there is no way that satan will have victory.

Being a Christian is a true test of one’s faith in Jesus, because it is when you become a Christian that the battle begins. This is where the most important decision lies in our lives. Who do we trust and rely on?

I am still busy reading the book walking in your own shoes by Robert H. Schuller, and I am currently on the last chapter but last night he made a very good analogy on faith and trusting the Lord in times of need.

He used a blind girl as an example; she is standing on a windowsill of a top floor of a burning building, she cannot see a thing, she hears the fire fighters telling to her that she can jump there is a net that will catch her, and yet she does not jump, she is paralyzed with fear at the thought of Jumping because she cannot see the net. She struggles to trust the fire fighters enough to save her life, but then suddenly her father speaks to her and tells her to Jump that he is there and everything will be ok.  Then suddenly her whole perspective changes and she jumps, although she cannot see the net, why did she jump? … Because she had faith in her father and trusted him enough to believe him when he said everything will be ok.

Now we can relate to that blind girl as us not being sure of the safety net of Jesus, but then he speaks to us through his word and says trust me it will be ok you will be safe.

I will go back to my point, that when you become a Christian, you begin a battle, a battle with satan, we are blind, there is a safety net called Jesus, and he is telling us that it is ok to Jump he is there.

1 Samuel 17:47 – Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.

 

2 Timothy 2:1-4 – You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

 

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 – For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

 

Ephesians 6:10-20 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand pin the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to.

 

I thank the lord for giving me the insight to do this post today and I dedicate this post and every other post to my Almighty God, in him I have found my strength to go into battle for him.

I also want to dedicate this to my friend, you are stronger than what you think, you are a mighty warrior for Jesus, and I have the utmost respect for you in the way you have handled this situation, this world needs more people like you in it. I pray that this battle you are now fighting will be one that will make you stronger and more determined to fight for what is right. I know God will be with you every step of the way; he will carry you and give you the tools you need to overcome this obstacle. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts. May God Bless you abundantly, in your Journey with him.

For anyone reading this all I ask of you is that you please lift my friend up in prayer. He has some very difficult choices to make and he might not see what’s on the other side of the mountain but with prayer and faith he will know what the right move will be as God will reveal it to him.

The Ten Commandments – How many rules do we break


How many of you abide by the law, whether it be rules of the road, property of the company you work for you name it, how many of you stick to the rules 100%, I am sure not many even though we try somewhere along the line we do something we should not, I am guilty of that too… I will give you an example, the road I work in is a one way, and every day when I leave I go in the wrong direction down the one way, why?? Well it will save me almost 20 minutes in travel time to get home, so then that should make it ok right?? WRONG that does not make it ok.  So as of this moment onwards this is the one rule that I will no longer break.

 

Let’s take a look at God’s Law’s: 

 

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:2-17 NKJV)

1              “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.

 

This one is pretty clear, there is no need to explain it, we shall not have any other God’s other than God in heaven, the God created us.

 

2              “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments.

 

Ok so many people bow down to statues, and it is not my place to Judge, this is just my personal opinion, I don’t see the relevance in it, praying to statues and they are not living beings, a statue is a lifeless piece of man material so will that benefit you, God is real He is alive and lives in us, we don’t need anyone but him.

 

3              “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

 

Don’t say the name of God in vain its simple really, I used to be guilty of this in fact every now and then I still do it, I am working on it though, but I suppose I was just so used to doing it that now I need to get into the habit of not doing it. I am getting there though.

4              “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

 

Hey we all need some time off and the BIG BOSS approved it so who are we to argue or complain, I sure aint, in fact I will take 2 days off is he likes.  Even 3… Just kidding.. just a little humour to brighten my day and possible yours too.

5              “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

 

Respect your parents, when I was younger I used to disrespect my mother often, I was a teenager and most of us did that at some point, and I thank God that he opened my eyes to that one very terrible thing I was doing, I love my mother dearly and sometimes do not appreciate her enough.

6              “You shall not murder.

 

Ok seriously, who in their right mind can just so easily take another person’s life yes I know there are many but I could never really understand it, what goes through the minds of those people for killing others, and how do they sleep at night.

7              “You shall not commit adultery.

 

Here to, I have seen what unfaithfulness can do to a family, what it can do to the children involved, its heartbreaking to see someone go through that, and come out the other side a stronger person, I see it in my brother, married for 10 years the devoted husband and father loved his wife, the mother of his children more than he loved himself, and yet she didn’t think twice to cheat on him with other men, about 6 out of the 10 years were a lie. Do yourself a favour go and read this article if you are planning on getting married or even if you are already married; it’s a brilliant piece “For better or for worse….” Really?.

 

8              “You shall not steal.

 

Now this is pretty clear, but how many of us steal without even realising it, taking a pen from work, or a marker. Seeing some change lying on the kitchen counter and taking it because its been lying there for days … there are so many small things and while they are small it is still classified as stealing

 

9              “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.

 

The way I understand this verse is that you must not gossip and tell lies about other people, please if I am wrong correct me.

 

10           “You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour’s.”

 

Simple, anything that belongs to your neighbour (anyone else other than yourself) belongs to the not you so don’t touch it….it is not yours, keep those hands and fingers to yourself.

 

So here are my thoughts on the 10 Commandments… it is the way I understand them.

I must just say before I go, today I felt God’s love so abundantly it’s amazing. How he can make you feel so loved and so secure and safe through all of life’s problems.

My NO TV PROMISE


No TV only God

Hello Bloggers,

Well for those of you that have read my previous post… YES I know it’s a long one. I made the promise to myself that the whole month I am spending looking after this house while the owners are away I will not watch any TV, NOT EVEN ONE SHOW… well I didn’t really make the promise to myself I made the promise to God, that I would take advantage of the month that I am here, to completely Immerse myself in his word, whether it be by reading the bible, reading Christian books, or blogging about Jesus, either way I am spending the time focusing on him. The last time I watched TV was on Wednesday the 7th of December, while the Thursday I forgot my promise and was about to switch the TV on, this little voice said NO remember your promise… well let me tell you something, under normal circumstances I would have been going crazy, not being able to chill in front of the TV to watch a show or 2.

Its not like that though, I am loving spending some alone time, to learn more and more about God, it really is so AMAZING that, everyday there is something new and something even greater, to learn about him. It is like I can’t get home quick enough to just be with God, its almost like a love affair so to speak, except its not secret. I want everyone to know that I am in a loving relationship with Jesus, and that if they just gave him the chance he so RIGHTLY DESERVES they could have that exact same relationship, each and every one of us have been ordained to do something magnificent for The Lord, and that is VERY EXCITING…

Well so far so good on my NO TV PROMISE, I will be sure to keep you all posted.

Lions Lead – This blog is truly inspirational, I have had the pleasure of meeting Lourens de Lange, who is the man behind Lions Lead, I have read some of his blogs before this blog even began, and loved it so much that I sent it to all my friends to read, and it ended up being posted on a very well known South African Christian magazines website, I truly believe that God has the most awesome plan for his life and I am almost certain that part of the plan is for him to write, think about it why would God bless him with such an AMAZING talent if it was not his intention to make use of it. So do yourself a favour go and take a look at this blog I PROMISE YOU that you will be blessed, just like I was.

All Things Beautiful – While I have never met this lady, I have been inspired by every single one of her posts, I found something from each one that I could apply to my OWN life which has helped me tremendously, she also happens to be the sister of the Lourens who writes the blog above, so if his character is anything to go by and his relationship with the Lord is anything to go by then I am sure she is just as Great. Each and every one of her blogs if God Focused which is fantastic, and you are bound to find some inspiration there too.

Allowing Christ to change y life – Well what can I say about this one, I find that every one of her blogs to be inspirational, she has had some hard issues in life that needed dealing with and she has come out a strong passion filled warrior for Jesus, more than that I also have never met her, in fact I don’t even know her name( I am sure if I search through her blog I will find it) I feel this connection to her, I don’t know what it is but it’s there, also very insightful inspirational

Well these 3 blogs are the 3 blogs that I felt the need to mention again, I am speaking from experience here that if you feel somewhat confused, down, or just needing answers you will find something to inspire you in one of these blogs.

I have one small request, if anyone reading this will re-blog it, not because I want people to read my blog, but because I want people to be as inspired by Jesus as I am.
